The beauty of the Scaling Up process is that it has an abundance of tools to help business owners reach greater success. In particular, I have several business assessments in my toolbox. These assessments are geared toward any business with revenue between $1 – 500 M per year. They provide you with helpful information that can highlight your business strengths and areas for improvement. They are extremely useful at the beginning of the Scaling Up process for setting priorities and areas of focus. Likewise, they can be used to get some insight into specific areas of your business which enables us to work on the most critical areas first. Currently, we are offering three different business assessments. Let’s take a look at each one.
In under 20 minutes, you’ll gain a complete insight into your situation, be able to compare yourself to your executive team for alignment and determine areas of deficiency. As described by previous business leaders, this ‘incredibly useful’ and ‘extremely eye-opening’ evaluation tool will instantly reveal how prepared you and your business are to scale up.

Once you complete the assessment, your report will be sent immediately
As the name suggests, this assessment lists all of your leadership team members’ views on your company’s current status, priorities, and future.
Regarding the future, each member of the leadership team is asked where they think the company will be in three years. The assessment asks for their opinions about company revenues, margins, and profits, as well as the projected number of customers, employees, and offices. It also asks what factors will help or hinder future success including product/service offerings and competition.
Next, leadership team members are asked to rate the company’s strengths and weaknesses in 16 key areas. Included in these factors are the 4 pillars of the Scaling Up process – People, Strategy, Execution, and Cash.
And lastly, the assessment asks each team member to list their thoughts on the company’s long-term goals, mission, core values, and more.
Once each team member completes the assessment, I run a report with the findings. The results of this part of the process are always interesting. More often than not, it becomes clear that the company’s leadership has vastly different views on where the business is today and where it is going. These results clearly define a strategy for going forward which most likely includes getting all team members in alignment.
This is an assessment designed for the company’s top leader and usually is taken in conjunction with the leadership team assessment. It takes a deep dive into Scaling Up’s 4 Pillars as well as the CEO’s leadership skills, effectiveness, and personal ambitions. After completing the assessment, a detailed report is generated for the CEO. The report will clearly show how the CEO measures up against his or her peers as well as the leadership team. Peers for purposes of this report are companies of similar size and in the same organization phase.
It also shows how prepared the CEO and the business are to get to the next level. The report’s findings provide an overall Scaling Up score and a wealth of data on where the company is excelling and where it lags compared to its peers. From this data, the CEO gets a clear picture of where to focus priorities and resources.
But it is more than just a report. It will serve as a valuable guide for the leadership team’s growth path. For example, the CEO may be frustrated with working in the business and not on it. The assessment will uncover bottlenecks and other factors that are causing this frustration. From there, I can help develop strategies to overcome the challenges.
These business assessments have a proven track record of helping organizations run more profitably and with no drama. I welcome a conversation to explore how you can use these assessment tools to your benefit. So, let’s set up a call to get you on the right track.
